Privacy Policy

FairSplit (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the FairSplit co-parenting expense app available at fairsplit.live. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how you can control it. If you have questions, email hello@fairsplit.live.
1. Information we collect
- —Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
- —Co-parent connection: your co-parent's phone number or email to send expense requests.
- —Expense data: receipt photos, amounts, dates, and split percentages you submit.
- —Payment information: Stripe processes all payments. FairSplit never stores card numbers or full bank account details — only Stripe customer IDs and the last four digits of accounts for display.
- —Usage data: pages visited, features used, and device/browser metadata to improve the product.
- —Communications: messages and disputes logged inside the app for the court-ready PDF feature.
2. How we use your information
- —To operate the service — process expense requests, facilitate payments via Stripe ACH, generate PDF exports, and deliver SMS notifications.
- —To communicate with you — transactional emails (payment confirmations, dispute updates) and, if you opt in, product updates.
- —To improve FairSplit — aggregate, anonymised analytics to understand how features are used.
- —To comply with law — we may disclose data when required by a valid legal process.
3. Data sharing
- —Stripe: payment processing. Your financial data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
- —Twilio or equivalent SMS provider: delivery of SMS expense-request links to your co-parent.
- —Supabase: database and authentication infrastructure, hosted on AWS.
- —We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes.
4. Data retention and export
- —Your data is yours — always. You can export a full JSON or PDF archive of your expense history at any time, on any plan, including after cancellation.
- —We retain account data for 90 days after cancellation to allow reactivation. After 90 days, account data is permanently deleted unless a legal hold applies.
- —Receipt photos are stored in encrypted cloud storage and deleted with your account.
5. Security
- —All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.2+. Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256.
- —Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a minimum cost factor of 12.
- —Payment data never touches our servers — Stripe handles tokenisation end-to-end.
- —We conduct regular dependency audits and follow responsible disclosure for vulnerabilities.
6. Children's privacy
- —FairSplit is for adults managing co-parenting finances. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact hello@fairsplit.live and we will delete it promptly.
7. Cookies
- —We use session cookies for authentication and optional analytics cookies (first-party only) to understand feature usage. No third-party advertising cookies.
- —You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling session cookies will prevent login.
8. Your rights
- —Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- —Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- —Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data.
- —Portability: export your data in machine-readable format at any time.
- —Opt-out: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email.
- —To exercise any right, email hello@fairsplit.live. We respond within 30 days.
9. Changes to this policy
- —We will notify you by email and with an in-app banner at least 14 days before any material change to this policy takes effect.
